“As Time Goes By”

Argentine artist Yanina de Martino is a highly versatile artist who tries her hand at a wide variety of original artistic techniques: she is always seeking to discover something new about herself. The artist introduces us to her world and takes us by the hand, revealing her truly original—and perhaps somewhat unusual—way of interpreting and creating abstract art.

Her art showcases a harmonious blend of classical styles with everyday objects, thereby creating an extremely personal style. Her works go beyond a simple canvas or table; they step out and become three-dimensional: they are, therefore, a fusion of painting and sculpture. Her tireless creative drive led her to explore and experiment with the use of unusual materials. The artist wants to convey the message that we should always be ourselves—especially if that means being different.

Diversity is a strength, not a flaw—something to be proud of, not something to be ashamed of. The fact that the shapes seem to emerge from the canvas is a way in which the work is interpreted by those viewing it: it almost seems as if they’re reaching out to us.

Every day, every new experience, and every new person we meet adds a small piece to our lives. Time often flows by, but it’s up to us to seize the moment, take hold of it, and place it so that it becomes part of the mosaic that makes us who we are. Every meaningful moment is a tile in this mosaic.

In her works, Yanina visually depicts this personal mosaic-like creation, as seen in these pieces titled “As Time Goes By.” Each card is covered with multicolored resins that blend together, each creating a different texture. Each card seems to tell its own story, completely different from the others.

Just as different photographs are combined to create a single image, here the artist combines a variety of photographs, which, when brought together, form a single large composition that exudes indescribable strength and energy. Each piece has a different shape from the others, with different resin inlays to highlight the uniqueness of each moment, and different sizes to show how a moment occupies more or less space—depending on its importance—within the vast mosaic of our lives.

Everyday life finds its way into abstract art.

The artwork also becomes an object, made of different materials, each endowed with its own specific quality and property, yet they come together and merge into one.
